How It Started

Gambale s.r.l. was founded in 1969 in Ferrara Italy. Mr. Vittorio Gambale, started producing colored cement roofing tiles. He started production with six workers and a semi-automatic plant that could produce 1000 tiles/hour.

In 1974, a completely automatic new plant was installed to produce 2,300 tiles/hour. Then in the 80’s Gambale created a new kind of tile. The Coppo Portoghese. It was a unique tile with a distinctive tri-dimensional look which they patented. A special production system was required to manufacture this tile and Gambale developed a complete set of accessories and colors to make the  Coppo Portoghese an attractive and complete roofing system.

The latest innovation in the field of roofing materials is the Doppio Coppo. Thanks to its high barrel design, the Doppio Coppo recreates the ancient light and shade effect of traditional Roman cap and barrel coverings. The Doppio Coppo is an especially large tile which reduces its weight per square and facilitates installation. Its design is also unique to Gambale, as they have patented it.

  In 2000, Gambale shipped machinery to and opened a new factory in Qingdao
China. Today, this factory can produce the same Coppo Portoghese
Tiles at a lower cost. This factory was built located directly next
to a large seaport, which results in significant savings when shipping
from this factory to the US. Due to geographical reasons, the cost
savings are not seen in the Northeast Region of the US, and there are
savings when shipping from Italy to this region of the United States.
The Doppio Coppo tile is made only at our Italy Factory.

In 2002, Gambale s.r.l. has invested in a state of the art factory in Shandong China to address market opportunities there. Gambale's partners in China's "HuaOu Gambale" are Qingdao HuaOu company and TransContinental Trade & Finance Corp. Gambale Roof Tiles is a wholly owned division of TransContinental Trade & Finance Corp.  Based in New Jersey, we are exclusive representatives of Gambale s.r.l. for the Northeast of the USA and exclusive representative of HuaOu Gambale for all of the United States."
 

While Gambale has grown over the years, it is still a family run business. The company holds true to the principles Gambale was founded on. Gambable remains focused on improving the quality level of the products and services, in order to work with market sectors that prefer particular and high quality products.
